234 schoolgirls kidnapped in Nigeria by
Islamist militants could be released in
exchange for jailed comrades, a former Boko
Haram negotiator has reportedly said.
The group snatched the girls from their
boarding school in Chibok in the lawless Borno
region in the north of the country.
A former mediator of the group has told the
Telegraph he believes the video, where Boko
Haram leader Abubakar Shekau threatens to
sell the girls as slaves, shows he plans to use
them as ‘bargaining chips’ rather than kill
them.
Shehu Sani says he believes that the footage,
released on Monday, was an attempt to
persuade the Nigerian government into a
prisoner trade.
He told the newspaper: ‘From my knowledge of
the group, to have him saying that he will sell
them is proof that this issue can be resolved.
‘The group is most likely to want to attach
some kind of conditions to the girls being
released, such as the freeing of some of their
own prisoners.

Britain and US join the race to find 200 schoolgirls kidnapped in Nigeria who are set to be sold as sex slaves

Both Britain and America are to help in the search for over 200
kidnapped schoolgirls in Nigeria who are set to be sold as sex slaves.
British Foreign Minister William Hague confirmed that Britain would
provide ‘practical help’ to secure the safe release of the 270 girls who
were snatched by an Islamist militant group last month.
The United States have also called in the FBI to join the race to find
the girls, who were taken during a raid in the village of Chibok in the
north east of the country.
It is thought that the extremist group Boko Haram is behind the
kidnapping, with the head of the group saying he would sell them on
the market. Continue reading

African China has tongue lashed some Nigerian artistes for being
hypocrites about the ongoing crises of the abducted girls by the
dreaded insurgents in the country.
According to him, the song ‘Boko Haram,’ would have not just been
African China alone, but a collaboration of various Nigerian artistes.
The artiste stated that he approached some of his fellow artistes for
collaboration about the song which they accepted, but later turned
him down during production. Continue reading
